High winds, cool front for final weekend of carnival

IT'LL be a busy weekend in Toowoomba with the final week of the Carnival of Flowers and the first spring Weetwood race day.

This week we have been experiencing warmer than average temperatures for this time of year with maximums reaching up to 28 degrees.

However according to the Bureau of Meteorology, this weekend temperatures will drop to sit in the high teens and low 20s.

Tomorrow, due to 40km/h south-westerly winds, temperatures will range from 10 to 19 degrees and Sunday temperatures will range from 7 to 21 degrees.

The cooler weather is due to a weak trough near the east coast which will move offshore into the weekend with a new ridge forming in its wake.

A cold front will move across the state during Friday and Saturday with an increase in dry westerly winds.

A new high moves into the Tasman Sea during the start of next week, meaning temperatures will remain similar for the foreseeable working week.
