Cardiac ultrasound machine a high-tech boost

COFFS Harbour continues along the cutting edge of medical technology with the installation of one of the most advanced cardiac ultrasound machines available.

The newly opened MNC Cardiac Services have recently taken delivery of a Phillips Epiq 5 which makes Doctors Tanya Stewart and David Henderson the first in regional NSW to have access to the high-tech diagnostic tool.

The machine makes it possible to offer both faster and more accurate diagnoses for patients.

"MNC Cardiac Services aims to deliver quick and accurate diagnosis on a patient's first visit using the combination of Tempo and the Phillips Epiq 5," Dr Stewart said.

"This platform provides improved clinical information from each scan."

As head of Cardiology at Coffs Harbour Health Campus, Dr Stewart knows how speeding up diagnosis can help relieve pressure on the health system.

"These ultrasound machines give us faster and more accurate exams."

"This leads to more successful management of the patient.

"The paperless aspect also addresses a serious environmental cost in that we no longer have to print reams of ECG tracings for every patient."
