Hey guys, stop knocking on my front door, I’m no hooker
A WOMAN living near Rockhampton CBD has voiced her concerns about what she suspects is a "brothel" beside her home.
She spoke to The Morning Bulletin yesterday about how her home had been mistaken several times for the house of an escort.
When The Morning Bulletin visited the woman yesterday at her house, in the space of an hour, three men in utility trucks arrived at the home purported to be the place where the escort lives.
Here is the resident's story in her own words:
"I am sick to death of strange men coming onto my property looking for a brothel.
"Three months ago one actually came onto my front veranda. I was lying on my sofa and the next thing I know, this six-footer appeared at the living room doorway, 20 feet inside the house. I'd only left the front security door open waiting for my cat to come in. I nearly had a cow. When he saw I wasn't a hooker, he was full of apologies and took off. I knew who he wanted. Now it's completely out of control.
"Three nights ago, at 11pm, my dog started to growl and I knew what this meant, so I hopped out of bed and saw a figure in black coming up the stairs... there's nothing creepier than seeing no real outline except a white face in the dark.
"I said 'Who the hell are you?' and he realised he wasn't in the paradise he thought he was going to be.
"Yesterday morning, at 1.15am, a drunken voice out in the street startled my darling dog.
"I knew it, I just knew it.
"Next thing, he comes in the gate, another six-footer with a beer can, saying 'I'm looking for the $50 girl'.
"So now we know what she charges: low-life prices. You get what you pay for.
"I rang the police after this one because he kept asking where she lived. I pointed it out but he was so drunk he went the other way, peppering the air with a string of f-words.
"Now I've just been woken up at 5.17am (yesterday) by my dog growling again.
"I just can't believe it, this is a nightmare. This one was coming up the path and the taxi was waiting outside.
"I always felt very safe here since I've been on my own, but no longer. Even though I'm fully trained in self-defence, it's becoming creepy."
Rockhampton Police's Sergeant Toni Healey said a report had been logged regarding the alleged address, but she could not comment on the matter.
She said if anyone had any concerns, they should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
