Coffs Zonta helps mothers

THE Zonta Club of Coffs Harbour will hold a birthing kit day on Saturday from at 10am at Toormina High School.

The United Nations says more than 500,000 women die each year because of pregnancy-related causes. The club will make up 1000 kits to assist mothers in developing countries to have a hygienic birth.

The kit contains a piece of plastic, a razor, a piece of soap, rubber gloves and a piece of string. They cost $2 each so the club has to raise $2000 for this project.

Donations can be posted to Zonta Club of Coffs Harbour, PO 1584, Coffs Harbour.

Volunteers are needed for the morning. Call the president, Pat Funnell, on 66540118 if you can help. The kits are distributed through Ausaid, saving lives of mothers giving birth in third world countries.
