Health council hits the ground running

THE top body charged with looking after health services in the region is making its mark.

The Mid North Coast Local Health Network Governing Council has had its second meeting since its establishment and this time Coffs Harbour was the venue.

Warren Grimshaw chairs the group and he’s pleased with the ground covered so far.

“We have a mandate to frame the development of health services in the region and ensure their efficient delivery,” Mr Grimshaw said.

“We’re also responsible for the allocation and monitoring of resources and establishing firm links with clinicians and the community.

“We’re developing strategic planning priorities and we’re directly accountable to the NSW Health Minister.”

Mr Grimshaw said last week’s meeting considered governance issues and the appointment of sub-committees, the top priorities for hospitals in the network, embracing clinicians in the network and the transition process to the local health network.

The governing council meets each month.
