Hayley too hot for us locals

ONE day before her 35th birthday, former Olympian and World Champion swimmer Hayley Lewis turned in probably the most jaw-dropping sporting feat the Coffs Coast has seen in many a long day.

Competing yesterday in the 2000m long course Novotel Pacific Bay Ocean Swim at Coffs Harbour Jetty, Lewis annihilated the turn-out of 271 starters to win the race by a conservative estimate of 100 metres.

Lewis clocked 28 minutes 18 seconds and as soon as the race was over, shyly thanked the crowd, then moved away to keep a low profile with her family.

Runner-up Tjade Groot of Woolgoolga proved the devastation of the winner with a time of 30 minutes nine seconds while Nana Glen's Cameron Lohs finished a further nine seconds back in third.
