Hatchback driver given a ticket for causing truck crash

A DRIVER who allegedly caused a crash with a truck at Apple Tree Creek in Queensland today has been issued a ticket.

Childers police told the News Mail that the male driver of a hatchback was heading north about 7.20am when he took the ramp to Bundaberg by mistake, instead of following along the Bruce Highway.

Police, who spoke to witnesses of the crash, allege that instead of safely continuing along the road until it was safe to turn around, the hatchback driver started to reverse in an attempt to do a u-turn on the ramp.

They determined a truck, carrying mulch, was travelling a safe distance behind the hatchback but had no time to avoid the collision and slammed into the back of the car.

The hatchback driver, who suffered a mild concussion, was issued a ticket for driving without due care and attention.
