Coffs misses out on $4.7 billion in projects

THE North Coast has missed out on a slice of billions of dollars in infrastructure announced by the Prime Minister this week, according to a Coffs Coast politician.

The Federal Government has committed $4.7 billion on 'nation building' projects designed to stimulate economic activity, including road and rail projects, infrastructure for universities, and tax breaks for small business.

While Mr Rudd said the package would create thousands of jobs, Member for Cowper Luke Hartsuyker said the North Coast had been overlooked.

“The North Coast would have been much better placed to address these difficult economic challenges if the Government had not cut such funding programs as Regional Partnerships and Sustainable Regions,” he said.

“These programs were creating jobs, attracting new investment and delivering outcomes for local communities.”
