Hagan has to ‘pay’ for his supper

FORMER Newcastle and current Queensland Origin assistant coach Michael Hagan is back in Coffs Harbour with rugby league and racing commitments this week.

One-time Knights teammate Darren Leaney will put his house guest to good use, with two important tasks to perform to pay for his supper.

"Mick will do a training session with Coffs Harbour Comets at Geoff King Motors Park," Darren said.

"He's been a great success as a coach and I know the club is honoured to have him take them for a run."

After training, Hagan will stay on with players and supporters for a barbecue and has promised to tell a few stories from his colourful career.

This will be the final session prior to Christmas, with head coach Colin Speed reconvening on Tuesday, January 20.

Hagan will remain in the city for Friday's Men of League race day where he will be joined by former Origin and Kangaroos stars Les Boyd and Michael Buettner.

The MOL Christmas luncheon will be hosted by Newtown and Balmain legend, Neil "Bing" Pringle.

Race day tickets are available by calling 6652 1488 or go online.
