Gympie business builds on quality and tradition

EVER find yourself looking at a display village thinking there's little difference between the house designs?

But if you want your home to stand out and be unique, often it will cost you.

Not at Oakvale Homes, according to co-owner of this second generation company Sharon Hansen.

"You can customise any of our designs or even bring in your own ideas at the start,” Mrs Hansen said.

She and husband Kurt took over Oakvale Homes in July last year from her father-in-law, trade builder Warren Hansen.

The young couple have embraced the nearly 30-year-old company and have plans to bring their own innovations to Oakvale Homes.

"We've got our own fresh ideas but we don't want to lose any of the quality or exceptional service people have come to expect,” she said.

That's why they continue to use local tradespeople and contractors, some of whom have been working with Oakvale Homes for more than 20 years.

After nearly 12 months at the helm, Mr and Mrs Hansen are excited by their options moving forward and Oakvale continues its expansion with an office in Maryborough covering the Hervey Bay and the Fraser Coast.

The display centre too is changing and evolving, with fresh new options available for everything inside the home, from light fittings to floor finishes to external cladding.

Head along to the Oakvale Homes Display centre at 16 Cross St, Gympie, and have a chat to Sharon Hansen or Daphne Backhouse to find out how to build your dream home.
