Gutsy victory sets up chance to finish well
OPINION - CLEM'S VIEW
EVERYONE was so excited and proud to show the fans and ourselves what we are capable of when we defeated the Giants last week.
We spoke a lot about belief before the game and while we hadn't necessarily put together a great 60 minutes this season, there had been patches of individual brilliance and plenty of growth.
It was the game to show that in the pressure moments we can put the foot down and keep marching forward instead of folding under the pressure.
It proved we can rely on ourselves and each other to make the big plays.
We had a really quick turnaround for the Giants game after taking on the Thunderbirds the week prior.
We were nursing a few sore bodies and Rose gave the team the night off on Monday.
It was her good call in making sure we were fresh.
We arrived at the stadium early on the night and we almost had too much time.
We were trying to figure out which songs to play in the change room, playing games to kill some time. But once we got out there we were good to go.
The Giants crowd was very passionate and intense.
The sound in the stadium was like a grand final. Whistles weren't being heard, you could barely hear the umpire. The heart rates were racing.
After Collingwood won on Saturday and ended our finals hopes, I definitely feel disappointed that our season is nearing its conclusion.
I'm going to savour this team in its final week.
The Swifts will provide a great final challenge on Saturday and it would top the season off nicely to know we've been able to string together a few wins and play to our potential.
We want to take momentum into next pre-season.
We've done a lot of hard work and built a really solid platform to take it up a notch in 2018.
