Gunners aim at EPL title after toppling Chelsea

JUST a week out from the start of the English Premier League, Arsenal again gave its fans hope of a first title in 11 years by eating Chelsea 1-0 to claim the Community Shield.

It was the second consecutive win for Arsenal and manager Arsene Wenger in the pre-season showpiece, played between the winners of the previous season's Premier League and FA Cup.

Perhaps more importantly, it was the first time Wenger (pictured) had got the better of Chelsea under manager Jose Mourinho in 14 attempts.

The result certainly didn't do anything to thaw the frosty relationship between the pair, with Wenger avoiding the chance of a congratulatory handshake after the match.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain scored the winner for the Gunners who kick off their EPL campaign at home on Sunday against West Ham.

Chelsea, winless in five matches in the pre-season, host Swansea on Saturday.
