Gubb expected to add gusto to Raiders pack at Kawana trial

RUGBY LEAGUE: He's impressed during pre-season training and now it's hoped forward Charlie Gubb can make an impact for the Raiders in the heat of battle.

The 27-year-old arrived in Canberra after four years at the Warriors and assistant coach Brett White is eager to see the prop show his wares in the team's only pre-season trial against the Bulldogs on the Sunshine Coast on Saturday.

"He's come over and worked really hard and fitted in well here so I'm really excited to see how he goes," he said.

"I've been very impressed with him. He brings that size which fits in well with us but it's aggression, you've got some really good aggression there."

It's hoped Gubb will be able to complement the likes of Shannon Boyd and Junior Paulo to add extra go-forward to the Raiders pack.

White, a former Australian representative prop, and the club coaching staff will also keep a close eye on the ball-players, with Siliva Havili and Craig Garvey jostling for the No.9 role at the club.

"We need to have a look at where they're at and how far (game time) they can get through and how that works leading into game one," White said.

Sam Williams and Aiden Sezer are set to start in the halves in the trial.

The encounter will be the Raiders only outing of the pre-season. They've spent almost a week in the region, during a particularly humid spell which is set to help the side prepare for their first round clash with the Titans on the Gold Coast.

"We've had a really good week up here," White said.
