Under-aged Schoolies caught with 60L of alcohol in car

SIXTY litres of beer, vodka- based alcopops, rum, vodka and liqueur went in the bin on Saturday after the booze was found in the car of three under-aged boys at the Whitsundays.

The boys' vehicle was searched at a traffic stop at Shute Harbour Rd as they were on their way into Airlie Beach Schoolies about 3pm on Saturday.

They were issued with infringement notices and the alcohol was disposed of.

Meanwhile, on Sunday night a Mackay girl at Airlie Beach Schoolies was charged with assault occasioning bodily harm.

A police spokesperson said it was alleged two 17-year-old Mackay girls who knew each other got into a fight at a Schoolies organised dance party at Main St.

One girl allegedly struck the other in the face at 8.30pm.

The alleged victim sustained swelling and bruising to her face but did not require transport to hospital.

The other girl is expected to appear in Proserpine Magistrates Court on December 7.

Acting Senior Sergeant Nathan Blain said apart from those incidents, Airlie Beach Schoolies had been well-behaved.

"Police are very happy overall with the Schoolies attendees this year," he said.

"I've been out and about talking to the Schoolies and they're all here to have a good time and celebrate the end of their schooling."

Acting Snr Sgt Blain said he urged the high school leavers to continue their good behaviour for the rest of Schoolies week.

"(I hope they) enjoy their time in the Whitsundays but act responsibly," he said.

"I would hate to see that a silly mistake they make this week could affect them for the rest of their lives."

Airlie Beach Schoolies finishes on November 27.
