Groovin' had more 'ups' than 'downs' during the day
ASK me what the most fun I've had so far this year is and I'll probably tell you Townsville's Groovin' the Moo 2013.
While I was more familiar with the line-up at last year's GTM festival in Bendigo - the highlights this year took the cake.
My highlights included Seth Sentry, Alpine, The Kooks, Flume, Yolanda Be Cool and Example.
What I love about Seth Sentry is he's an ordinary Aussie dude, unlike with 360, there's no pretence and arrogance about him and this shone through in his performance.
Alpine's front women had my attention right from the start, unlike Yacht's Claire L. Evans. Evans' wannabe Gwen Stefani's antics did nothing to impress me.
By the time the band got to the only song I was looking forward to (Le Goudron) I was bored.
On both stages there seemed to be a lull in acts between 4pm and 7pm with Tame Impala being my biggest disappointment.
I was really looking forward to seeing them, but they didn't live up to my expectations.
The low point was during their song Elephant, where they stopped to tune their guitars.
This went on for about a minute and while I was confused, I was hoping this would mean they were teasing us for an epic finale.
It wasn't a tease - to me it was just a bad attempt at the hipster "I'm too cool to care" attitude.
It wasn't until Flume that the night really kicked off for me.
His set was amazing.
That fact that my five-foot-nothing body was being pushed and shoved around a moshpit didn't even bother me.
He had the whole crowd fist-pumping and frothing for more.
Ducking across to the other stage to catch the last half of The Kooks was also one of the best decisions we made and turned out to be one of the day's biggest highlights.
By the time they got to their last song Naive they had the whole crowd singing and dancing like nobody's business.
Example was the perfect way to end a fantastic day.
The only disappointing thing was it prevented me from catching The Temper Trap. This being said I have no regrets, Example was worth the sacrifice.
I even became one of those annoying girls who gets up on a guys shoulders - and I have to say it was awesome.
Thanks to my housemate Toby, for the first time in my life my five-foot-nothing body had the best view in the house.
