Grant makes school garden work easier

STUDENTS at St Patrick's Primary School can now work in the school garden with ease, thanks to the Parents and Friends Association and Nanango Heritage Bank.

The school's P&F was successful in its sponsorship application to the Heritage Nanango Community Funding program to help purchase a new gardening shed and equipment.

The grant received from Heritage Bank Nanango covered the shed and the tools, while the school's P&F purchased the concrete and provided the labour to build it all.

St Patrick's P&F president Gemma Pedron said she was delighted by the new equipment.

"In the past students had limited equipment to work in the school's Kanyaka Garden,” Ms Pedron said.

"There are now plenty of tools and, with the shed being located at the gardens, it is a great storage space that is easily accessed.

"The tools will not only be used by the students to tend to the gardens but also the parents and staff during working bees. It is a great addition to our school.

"It is great to see our local organisations working together.”
