Grafton secures grand final berth

A BIG fourth quarter performance from Grafton has seen them secure a second straight grand final berth defeating Port Macquarie 83-57 at BCU International Stadium.

Despite leading by only a goal a half time, the Tigers held off a strong challenge from the Magpies before kicking 29 points in the final period to race away for a comfortable win.

The victory gives the reigning premier automatic passage to this year's decider and will now wait on the result of next week's clash between Sawtell and Port Macquarie to see who its grand final opponent will be on September 1.

A courageous captain's performance from Grafton's Daniel Zacek helped his side finish on top booting four goals.

Although behind on the scoreboard at each break, the magpies remained within two goals until late in the match and will take plenty of positives from the game ahead of their preliminary final clash with Sawtell.
