New graduates celebrate achievements

DEDICATION and hard work paid off on Saturday as Southern Cross University's newest batch of graduates celebrated their achievements.

Two graduation ceremonies were held on the day with students from the School of Arts and Social Science, Gnibi College of Indigenous Australian Peoples, and School of Health and Human Sciences graduating at 10am.

Students from the School of Business and Tourism, School of Education, School of Environment, Science and Engineering, School of Law and Justice, SCU College, Southern Cross GeoScience, and Southern Cross Plant Science graduated in the second ceremony at 1pm.

Students were presented with their degrees or diplomas during the ceremonies which marked the end of many students' university journeys.

A number of prizes were also awarded to students who had excelled in their fields of study.

The University Medal, awarded for academic excellence at the highest level, was awarded to Desmond Bellamy from the School of Arts and Social Sciences, Arun Looman from the School of Environment, Science and Engineering, and Zoe Cecelia Hunter from the School of Law and Justice.
