Bikes and bulls a match made in heaven for Brodie

IT'S an unlikely combination - bikes and bulls - but for one Logan resident the two are proving to be a successful business venture.

Brodie Carmichael has turned his love of bull-riding and motocross into one live show, Bikes and Bulls, with live shows across Queensland.

Produced under Carmichael Entertainment at Tamborine, the 24-year-old said combining two of the most dangerous sports in the world was drawing in the crowds.

"So far we have attracted between 300 and 5000 people to each of our live shows, and support is growing fast," he said.

"The idea came from my experience as a kid riding bulls and freestyle motocross.

"I realised there wasn't a lot of opportunity for me to ride at events, so I built my own ramps and started to work closely with a rodeo company to establish Bikes and Bulls."

Giving his business an extra boost is $20,000 he won from Westpac in their Tell Us Your Story Australia competition.

Westpac small business general manager Julie Rynski said the competition aimed to enable small businesses to inspire each other, and have the confidence to take the leap and start a small business.

"Through an engaging two minute video entry, Mr Carmichael successfully communicated his unique business vision and demonstrated how the business will continue to grow both in Australia and internationally, whilst also mentoring youth to help them achieve their own dreams."

Regional general manager Ginny Dougherty said she loved the business idea, having grown up in the US around this sort of sport.

"I'm just glad to see the drive and get up and go," she said.
