Good reminder of Christian values
REGARDING Mark Furler's excellent article (Daily, July 20) 'Does the Lord need better PR'.
It was a good article on a controversial debate raging in all parts of media at present.
You said, "When considering moral issues I often come back to the question what would Jesus do?”.
You give the example of a "prostitute”, actually an adulterer, facing death by stoning found in the gospel of John 8: 7-11.
Jesus did write "he who is without sin cast the first stone”.
She had no accusers.
Their consciences condemned them as it does for most Christians.
Finding none to accuse her, Jesus said, "Neither do I condemn you: go and sin no more”.
In other words - repent, turn your life around.
Jesus saved her life that day.
He showed compassion and love toward her but he did not leave it there.
He showed her a better way to life.
