Golfers raise over $2K for men's health week

GOLF: It was a field of blue at the Mundubbera Golf course on Saturday afternoon as players supported men's health week and Beyond Blue.

Playing a nine hole, 3 ball ambrose, players from all over the region took part in a charity match designed to raise awareness for key issues within the region.

Centre manager for the Mundubbera Community Development Association (MCDA) Bobby-Leigh Redgard said it was a successful event with more than $2,000 raised.

"We had a beautiful Saturday afternoon celebrating and bringing awareness to Men's Health Week,” Ms Redgard said.

"Beyondblue are able to make a real difference to the lives of people affected by anxiety, depression and suicide with funds raised by community events such as ours.”

More than 50 players braced a cold afternoon to support the event.

"The community really supported the event with 51 players registering to play and I am happy to say we were able to raise $2184 in the day,” she said.

"I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Mundubbera golf club for their assistance in putting on the event, they made the day truly amazing and easy for someone with no idea about golf supporting me through the whole event.”

The Mundubbera golf club have helped support many charities throughout the years.

"I honestly recommend to anyone in the community wanting to put on a fundraising event to go and chat to the golf club to see how they can help as they truly make it easy,” she said.

"I would like to make special mention and big thank to all the staff of MCDA - for assisting in the lead up to the event.

"Ros Kugel, Maureen and Bob Wisniewski for the great job handling the BBQ and food preparation.

"Councillor Faye Whelan for judging the best-dressed team. Peter Hunsley, David Zipf, Amanda and Kerry Beutel for their assistance on the day.

"Most of all thank you to the community for supporting the event.”
