FAMILY, rugby league football and swinging a golf club were numbered among the many passions of the late Phil Jacobson.

The distinguished police officer, surf lifesaver and community servant was well loved and his sudden passing earlier this year sent shockwaves through the Sawtell and wider Coffs Coast community.

Phil's mates began thinking of something to do in recognition of a really good bloke and a life well lived.

So, the Phil (Jaco) Jacobson Memorial Golf Day will be held for the first time at Sawtell Golf Club on Sunday, December 28.

The event is a four-ball ambrose with a fee of $50 per player, which includes barbecue lunch and dinner.

Hit-off times are available from 7.30am to 1pm and nominations may be made at Sawtell Golf Club on 66531006.

Further information from Tony Murphy on 0402861733 or Rob Wellings on 0414755066.

"Many of Jaco's family are travelling to Sawtell to be part of this special event," Tony and Rob said.

"Let's show his family how much we appreciate what an incredible contribution Jaco made to our community."

All proceeds will be donated to Sawtell Surf Life Saving Club and Sawtell Panthers Rugby League Club, organisations Jaco was committed to and passionate about.
