IT'S not only backyards that can shine in the annual Coffs Harbour Spring Garden Competition.

Last year Bonville Golf Resort took out triple gold in this popular local garden event hosted by the Coffs Harbour Garden Club.

A perennial favourite, the Resort won Non-residential Waterwise Garden, Garden over 2000sq m and Whole Garden Resort.

"We have won many awards at Bonville Golf Resort, for our food, golf course and hospitality, but the recognition received in the community garden competition means so much," said Damien Tarbox, marketing manager at Bonville Golf resort.

"The beauty of the property is something we consciously strive to maintain and improve and many people visit and appreciate our grounds without ever playing a round of golf.

"We will be entering the competition again this year," Mr Tarbox said.

"Our hedges are already looking colourful but the azaleas are a bit slow to bloom; hopefully they will be at their best in time for judging."

Many sections to enter in this year's competition means, "there's a place for everybody," Pat Roser, organiser and president of the CH Garden Club said.

"It doesn't matter if people have a large garden, a small courtyard or even just one feature like a rockery, there is a category to enter."

Entry is free and closes September 7. Details/forms at the Advocate, local nurseries and coffsgardenclub.com.
