Glenreagh sets timber festival date
AUGUST 1 and 2 will again see Glenreagh come alive with the fifth annual Timber Festival weekend.
It is hoped the weekend will also mark the return of the Glenreagh Mountain Railway to the tracks for public train rides.
Organisers are planning a full program of activities, with the Timber Festival on Saturday followed by the Gala Bush Ball and Sunday's street procession followed by a family barbecue and children's events.
World Champion Axeman David Foster is expected to attend and compete in the woodchop events and a Timber Festival highlight will be a State of Origin Team Woodchop Competition between NSW and Queensland around noon.
Additional attractions expected are the Rusty Iron Rally with plenty of beautifully restored working veteran machinery, vintage and veteran cars; a jumping castle and market stalls.
Farm machinery, ride-on mowers, decorated bicycles, Grafton Vintage and Veteran Car Club cars and Rural Fire Service vehicles will join the Sunday street procession along Coramba Street to the Glenreagh Recreation Grounds, where the community will celebrate with a family barbecue and children's events.
