Gibson's family at peace now justice has been served

THE family of slain Ipswich teen Shaune Gibson say his murderers "got what they deserve".

Mr Gibson's mother, Roselyn Scott, hope she might be able to find peace finally after two of his killers were sentenced to life imprisonment.

"And Shaune will finally get his peace," Ms Scott said.

Ms Scott, who was present for Valerie Jeanette Mullins' entire trial, said she felt her questions about what took place that night her son was murdered had been answered.

She said it had been hard to move on with life while her son's murder case went through the courts.

"You just survive. Now it's over so hopefully we'll be able to move on and start living our lives instead of just existing."

Speaking outside court after Mullins and Warrick David Lindenberg were sentenced, Mr Gibson's family, including his mother, sisters and relatives, said they felt justice had been served.

There were even a few jokes that Mr Gibson - who wanted to become a jockey - would probably want to celebrate with a drink if he was there.

"He was a scallywag," Ms Scott laughed.

"He couldn't hurt a fly," his aunt, Joanne Scott said.

The court heard Lindenberg confessed to police about being involved in the murder and led officers to the grave site where he had buried Mr Gibson.

Mr Gibson's mother and sister, Kayler Scott, said they were able to give him a proper burial because of this admission.

But his mother said "there's no excuses for what they did".

"Nothing excuses it."
