Getting fit at any age

MARG Fisher may well be 70 years old but she’s a gym junkie.

The Toormina senior is one of dozens of mature aged people making use of the Coffs Coast Health Club’s Boomer and Senior classes and this Seniors Week, she’s urging others to do the same.

NSW Seniors Week begins on March 21 and from then until March 28, the club will be offering seniors free access to equipment and group classes, free health checks and discounts on natural medicine.

“I had problems with flexibility, arthritis and my weight and I decided this year I needed to do something to look after my health,” Mrs Fisher said.

She found the seniors classes at the Coffs Harbour Health Club on Hogbin Drive and hasn’t looked back since. She has seen major improvements in her health, not to mention her social life.

“I absolutely see a difference – I’ve dropped weight, I can touch my toes now no problem at all and I couldn’t have done that before,” she said.

“I also had issues with muscle spasms and cramping but since I’ve been exercising I haven’t had one. When I leave I feel energised and I’m ready to face the day, I have that spark.

“I thought gym’s weren’t my scene; I always thought they were for the body beautiful but now I know different.

“Come and give it a go – drop all your preconceptions and your anxiety and come do what you can – I believe only positive things can come of it.”
