Getting cheaper: Mazda CX-9 seven-seat SUV prices revealed

MAZDA'S eagerly awaited next generation seven-seat CX-9 SUV will cost from $42,490 plus on roads; a reduction of $1280 over the outgoing model.

The new car, available as a front- or all-wheel drive SUV, goes on sale next month and has attracted more pre-sale expressions of interest than any other model in Mazda's history in Australia.

The new CX-9 offers more standard equipment than its predecessor, and more importantly, the key criticism of the current CX-9 - its fuel economy - has been addressed by using a 170kW/420Nm 2.5-litre turbo petrol engine for consumption figures from 8.4-litres/100km.

This will make it the most economical seven-seater petrol model in its class when using 91 RON unleaded or E10 fuel.

The new CX-9 follows the CX-3 and CX-5 SUVs in having four grades: CX-9 Sport ($42,490), CX-9 Touring ($48,890), CX-9 GT ($57,390) and CX-9 Azami ($59,390). All use six-speed automatics, and add an extra $4000 to the above prices to give AWD to your CX-9.
