Big job in bringing oz rock royalty to town

GETTING a huge show like the Red Hot Summer Tour in and out of Coffs Harbour in a little more than a day is a huge undertaking.

Coffs Harbour events company Offbeat Operations is bringing the show which features Jimmy Barnes, Ian Moss, the Baby Animals and Chocolate Starfish to the Coffs Harbour Showground on May 4.

Offbeat Operations' Shane Seccombe said that behind the scenes, planning for the show started in October last year, but the logistics were made simpler by the fact the show was like a well oiled machine.

"They've done 17 shows through Victoria with this line-up," Mr Seccombe said.

"The stage comes on a big semi and we set it up on the Friday ready for gates to open at noon on the Saturday."

Having so many big names on the bill meant the day would be one of the biggest events for the year.

"It's going to be a relaxed atmosphere in a great setting on the nice green pastures of Coffs Harbour," Mr Seccombe said.

"For a price under $80 you don't have to jump on a plane and go to one of the bigger cities, we've got them right on our doorstep."
