Get to know Marine Rescue inside and out
ANGLERS are invited to come along and learn the ins and outs of Marine Rescue Woolgoolga during an open day on Sunday.
Marine Rescue members will be there to welcome boaters from across the Northern Beaches from 11am to 1pm.
"Safety of the boating public is our reason for being," acting unit commander Linda Jones said.
"Most people who see us on the water only get to see the craft from the outside - we will be there to let our visitors get to know our boat Woolgoolga 30 inside and out.
"We will also provide safety brochures, advise the correct way to wear lifejackets and give general safety advice."
There will be brief talks about the benefits of using marine radios, including logging on and off with the Woolgoolga base every time anglers go out to sea, in addition to talks about EPIRB's including where to locate them and how to use them.
The radio room will also be open so boaters can see where the unit members are located when they are talking to them over the radio.
"It will be a very informal session so come along and talk to us," she said.
Coffee, tea and refreshments will be available.
