Generosity a close shave

JEANETTE Alley's nerves didn't last long on Saturday.

Her decision to 'be brave for a shave' on the veranda of the Valla Beach Resort saw her surrounded by cheering crowds, full of encouragement and hairstyle suggestions.

“The veranda was packed,” Mrs Alley said.

“I sat with the donation box on my lap and people just kept coming up to me.

“When I got home there was even one $50 note in there.

“People were so generous - I was really touched.”

Mrs Alley's efforts raised $956, which was then doubled by resort manager Terry Fulton.

“I'm blown away - the final amount is $1912.

“I'm also really proud of myself - I have no hair but my ego's healthy!”
