Garden OK for Anzac Day

WITH tools at the ready, teams from local businesses began a garden makeover, the first part of Sawtell Memorial Park’s Memory Walk.

In the lead-up to Anzac Day, Bunnings Warehouse Coffs Harbour staff and a crew from Tursa Employment and Training gave the Sawtell RSL’s Memorial Park a good sprucing.

The long-term project aims to have a memorial garden representing each war to commemorate and show respect to those who served.

Each Anzac Day, Bunnings Warehouse helps out in the garden to show respect to the fallen. Last year they created an appreciation garden for a war widow.

Jumping on the perfect opportunity for a garden makeover, yesterday they built the main circular garden at Memorial Park.

Activities organiser Kandy Harper said they planted a ‘formal garden’, with a circular organisation of rosemary, mondo grass, Allyn Magic lilly pilly with a massive pine tree in the centre and a chair where people can sit and remember.
