Future doctors examine the Coffs Coast
COFFS Harbour is playing host to 46 medical students from the University of New South Wales attending the Rural Clinical School at Coffs Harbour Health Campus.
Among the medical students participating in the program is Emma Mason, originally from Stuarts Point.
Having completed three years of her medical degree in Sydney, she is now living in Coffs Harbour where she will continue the final years of her medical studies.
"It's been good to work at a lot of different health centres in Coffs Harbour to get a feel for what area of medicine I'm interested in before deciding on a specialty," Emma said.
Emma has been spending time with GPs at local medical centres, as well as Australian Hearing, Galambila Aboriginal Health and the Refugee Health Clinic, allowing her to learn about the different issues affecting the health and wellbeing of the local community.
"I've enjoyed all my placements as the doctors have been keen to teach me and the patients are happy to have me there to learn."
