Funding for Nambucca skate park

THE adoption of a new Section 94 developer contribution plan for Community Facilities and Open Space by Nambucca Shire councillors puts 14 community projects on the drawing board with funding available immediately for eight.

One of the eight is the much debated Nambucca skate park, which has been on and off the shire's list for some 20 years.

“We have gone for projects that will benefit the entire shire,” mayor Rhonda Hoban said.

“In the case of the skate park, the $88,000 already set aside would only have given us a partly completed project.

“Although we had called for tenders, we had to wait for the completion of this new plan to have legal access to additional funds to finish the skate park in one hit.

“The biggest hurdles are now behind us.”
