Funds for community groups

COMMUNITY organisations on the Coffs Coast have the chance to get a little help themselves with the Federal Government announcing their latest round of Volunteer Grants.

Federal Member for Cowper Luke Hartsuyker announced today that grants of up to $5000 would be available for community groups to purchase small equipment items.

“Volunteers do a great job in our community but sometimes they struggle to raise funds to purchase much-needed equipment,” Mr Hartsuyker said.

He said the Volunteer Grants program is an opportunity for community-based organisations to receive a small amount of assistance which will enable them to continue their good work.

Applications can be made online by logging onto www.fahcsia.gov.au.

“Organisations which have questions about the latest round or wish to lodge a hard copy version can phone the Volunteer Grants hotline on 1800 183 374,” Mr Hartsuyker said.

Applications for funding are open now and close at 2pm on Friday, April 16, 2010.
