Funds flow for radio training

AN anonymous donor has answered local radio CHYFM’s plea for donations.

Station manager Becky Cole can hardly wipe the grin from her face now new equipment can be purchased to install a training studio.

“The donations are so generous,” Miss Cole said. “It really means a lot to us and the kids.”

The studios are in high demand with the new training program that runs on Sundays being packed by teenagers and adults and now Miss Cole can look at running two simultaneous classes to shorten the growing waiting list of those wanting to learn radio skills.

The local station will now also be able to install back-up equipment at Bruxner Park thanks to a generous grant from Coffs Caring Community Inc.

Bernard Town presented Miss Cole and CHY with $2000 on Wednesday.

“We’ve needed this for a long time,” Miss Cole said.

CHY has operated since the 1970s and Miss Cole is now working towards introducing more training programs, not only for young people but also adults.

“There are some huge changes coming this year,” Miss Cole said.

For more information about the next training course or how to donate, contact Miss Cole on 6651 1104 or becky@chy.com.
