Funding the big issue
WITH funding for sport and sports development being such a big issue, the Coffs Harbour Sports Advisory Council (COFFSAC) is delighted to announce that it has organised a seminar on the subject that should be of great assistance to local sporting groups.
The North Coast Director of NSW Communities, Sport and Recreation, Paul Hernage, will be the keynote speaker at the seminar to be held at Sportz Central on Wednesday evening, commencing at 5.30pm.
Last year, the NSW Sport and Recreation Grant Programs underwent some major changes, some of which Hernage addressed when he spoke at Coffs Harbour in November.
At that time, his main focus was the new Participation Program but next week’s seminar will include attention to the Facility Development Program and the Disability Sport Assistance Program.
Of particular interest will be the Facility Development Program as applications for this close on March 2. This system replaces the old Capital Assistance program, which has been of great benefit to many local sporting bodies over the years.
COFFSAC president Phil Crofts said this week that he hoped many sporting groups would take advantage of Hernage’s visit to find out how they could be helped.
“The various Sport and Recreation Grant Programs have undergone major changes and this is a great opportunity for local groups, big and small, to find possible sources of funding to assist their development,” Crofts said.
Sporting organisations seeking further information about next week’s seminar should contact Phil Crofts on 6652 5525.
