Funds to get road blackspot fixed

A KNOWN accident blackspot west of Dorrigo is set to be fixed.

The Federal Government has announced funding of $900,000 to go toward eradicating a dangerous section of road on Waterfall Way at Fernbrook.

The money will be used to widen the road shoulder, install guardrails and improve superelevation and curve alignment.

Duty Senator for Cowper, Matt Thistlethwaite, said the project was recommended by a panel of independent road safety experts and will be delivered during the course of this financial year.

"Since being elected in 2007, the Federal Labor Government has allocated more than $2.5 million to fix 15 black spots across the Cowper electorate," Senator Thistlethwaite said.

"Nationally, we've doubled funding for the Black Spot program to half a billion dollars."
