School funding access 'simple'

COFFS Coast schools haven't been left in the lurch with their funds, despite reports that schools across the state have been unable to access funds.

News Limited papers reported last week that hundreds of schools have been unable to buy pens or pay power bills because the state-wide transfer of bank accounts from ANZ to Westpac was seemingly bungled.

But the principal of one Coffs Coast school stated it was probably through fault of their own if schools were experiencing problems in accessing their funds.

“We wrote ourselves a cheque and deposited into our Westpac account.

“Some schools must not have read all the instructions and were waiting for ANZ to transfer their money,” he said

Another school agreed.

“Some problems have been encountered by some schools but I have not been left without funds, nor should any other schools.”
