Fun for families at farm
NESTLED among the avocado trees, perched high on the hill only a stone's throw from Nambour is The Farm Gym.
With produce grown on site and seasonal transformation journeys, owners Acacia and Luke Harvison are making a home out of their community.
Literally. They've just moved into a sustainable container home on the 40acre property and with the help of Nambour Alliance and Unitywater, the couple are opening the gym for a family fun day.
"We're offering 'The Farm Gym' experience - but it's stuff anyone can do,” Acacia said.
Luke's vision for the gym, which opened nearly two years ago, was to offer a Harvest program - where people came in as seeds and nurtured themselves and others.
The harvest is about bringing people back to their roots; they begin their six-week program by planting seeds in the gym garden, they watch the plants grow alongside their journey and at the end, the "tribe” comes together to harvest the produce and enjoy the food as one big community.
"We try to tie everything into the season, it gives it a deeper meaning,” Luke said.
"What if instead of losing weight or getting fit, you had a whole new outlook?”
The morning will run Monday, January7, 7.30-9.30am. For more details visit facebook.com/thefarmgym.
