Friends rallying to support Sandra

TOORMINA single mum Sandra Chetcuti Austin is doing it pretty tough at the moment and her family hopes you can help.

Sandra is by her daughter’s bedside at Sydney’s St George Hospital where Maria, 23, is undergoing cancer treatment.

Sandra can’t bear the thought of losing another child following the sudden deaths of son Brendon, 16, in 1999 and daughter Tammie, 27, in 2008.

St George Hospital staff have now found Sandra a room where she can stay but before that she was sleeping on the TV room floor or in a chair.

“When Maria is allowed to leave hospital, Sandra wants to bring her home,” said Sandra’s sister, Terri Rose.

Sandra’s other children, Thomas and Shane and their extended families are now rallying around Sandra in her time of need.

Terri says Sandra, who is on a disability pension, is struggling to make ends meet.

“We have set up an appeal to give Sandra some financial help,” Terri said.

“It will go a long way to helping her during this difficult time.

“Sandra has always helped those in need in our community and now we believe it’s her turn to get some help.”

If you think you can assist in any way, contact Terri Rose on 0400 397 402 or Roxanne Astill on 0403 041 097.
