Freshen up with fun waves

Surf conditions

WE'RE in for an interesting week of waves on the Coffs Coast with a solid period of south swell around for the weekend, swinging to the east to provide great waves in southern corners.

Winds will be light and offshore for most of the day.

Heading into next week, the swell will drop off quickly with favourable winds meaning there'll be plenty of waves on offer on open beaches.

Local surf news

A BIG week for our top local junior surfers who all competed at the state titles held at Port Macquarie.

Ryley Smidt and Mansa Rodham competed in the under 14's and Sam Arvidson competed in the under 18's.

All the boys surfed well against the best surfers for their age in the state, surfing through multiple challenging rounds.

A big shout out to WBC member Carly Shanahan from Wooli, who came runner-up in the U16 girls and booked her place on the NSW team for the Australian Titles later in the year.

This weekend the best U14 and U12 surfers will compete at the NSW Grommet Titles at Maroubra.

Dayne Peel from Sandy Beach will be our sole local competitor in the U14 boys.

After a few flat weekends, Woolgoolga boardriders will again look to run an open comp this Sunday.

Keep an eye on the WBC Facebook page for location and times.
