HONDA'S new Civic range arrives in showrooms this June with prices starting at $22,390 for the entry-level VTi sedan.

While this is a mere $400 more than the current Civic VTi, the $18,490 Vi manual version will be dropped when the new cars arrive, as all Civics from June will feature CVT automatics as standard.

There'll be five models in the new Civic range, with a sporty-styled RS ($31,790) new to the line-up and the top spec called VTi-LX costing $33,590. Honda says there's been improvements to the Civic's build, chassis and safety as well as the new styling, while Apple CarPlay and Android Auto bring phone connectivity to the next level.

The cheapest VTi and VTi-S models use Honda's familiar 104kW/174Nm 1.8-litre petrol, but the VTi-L, RS and VTi-LX are given an all-new turbocharged 1.5-litre good for 127kW/220Nm.

Australians have had a long love affair with the Civic badge, buying more than 300,000 since its 1973 arrival. The Civic with hatch body is due early in 2017 while the eagerly awaited Type-R hatch will follow in late 2017.
