Free tax help? Fancy That
LODGING a tax return can sometimes incur unexpected or inconvenient expenses, so the Fancy That Op Shop is helping people who would like to lodge theirs for free.
The free tax service which starts next week is a government initiative being hosted by the store, and Fancy That shop co-ordinator co-ordinator May Nash said it will be of great benefit to those feeling the financial pinch.
"They don’t have to go and find a tax accountant and pay for it,” Ms Nash said.
“And a lot of them are younger people who do not pay a lot of tax, but they’ve still got to put in a tax return. So they don’t get charged for it."
The service offers people the expertise of trained accredited Tax Help volunteers, and has been offered by Fancy That for the last few years.
Ms Nash said it was of great benefit to the community, with a lot of residents filing their tax returns through it.
Those looking to take advantage of the free service must have a myGov account, and Ms Nash said an appointment must be made first.
She advised people to set aside an hour for their appointments which can be made starting from 9am, with the last available appointment being at 3pm.
The free service will be running on Wednesdays.
Appointments can be made by calling 07 5483 6207 or by calling into the shop on Mary St.
