Kingswood on the indie scene and on show for free

THERE can be no better way to celebrate youth than a full day of rocking out at Coffs Harbour's Botanic Garden.

With Melbourne indie-rockers Kingswood headlining and support from a massive line-up of local talent, next week's Check Your Head festival will be one of the biggest music events on the calendar.

Kingswood have come off a massive 2012 that's seen them become fixtures at festivals around the country and they're also due to support rock legends Aerosmith later this month.

The April 19 festival, which is a free event from 9am to 4.30pm for 12-25-year-olds plus their parents or guardians, also features some of the best live acts from the Coffs Coast.

The Outcome, Sayd, I Sleep at Dawn, Give Em Hell Kid, Intermission, Matilda and Josette, DJ Thortz and Shannon & Damon will all take the stage.

The day also features the Rock N Ride with Grinspoon front man, Phil Jamieson, CEO of the Big Day Out, Adam Zammit, Chris Joannou from Silverchair and other musicians rumbling to the venue on a fleet of Harley Davidsons.

The riders will then be available to meet fans before hosting a panel discussion that focuses on youth issues. Kingswood head to the Hoey Moey to support Grinspoon the same night.
