Fraser MP says 2900 businesses benefit from WorkCover change
REDUCTIONS to NSW WorkCover premiums will make the workers' compensation scheme fairer and more sustainable.
The Nationals Member for Coffs Harbour, Andrew Fraser, said improvements to the scheme means 200,000 employers across 414 industries in NSW will receive an average premium rate reduction of five per cent.
"Around 2900 businesses in Coffs Harbour electorate are set to benefit," Mr Fraser said.
"This 4.9 per cent cut is on top of two rate cuts earlier this year.
"With these reductions combined, small businesses have received an average rate reduction of 15.71 per cent during the past 12 months."
Mr Fraser said no employer will receive a rate increase in 2014.
"These reforms have allowed return to work rates in NSW to dramatically improve, from three per cent to 88 per cent since the reforms were put in place.
"The NSW changes have helped return the scheme to a surplus, prevented premium rate rises and saved jobs.
"This is money that can be reinvested into making workplaces safer and creating jobs in our local community."
