Fraser bats for Fishos

MEMBER for Coffs Harbour Andrew Fraser has re-approached the Minster for Lands, Niall Blair, this week in a bid to save the Coffs Harbour Deep Sea Fishing Club.

Mr Fraser put the case forward that Coffs Harbour City Council should be able to renegotiate the club's lease.

Mr Fraser, however, said the move may compromise Independent Commission Against Corruption guidelines, which say the lease needs to go to open tender.

The move towards an open tender may not be a positive outcome, he said.

"We have a situation at the moment which will see the creditors paid out which would see the club continue, jobs continue but we have this worry about ICAC," he said.

Mr Fraser is confident the club and its circumstances would pass ICAC tests.
