France becomes the 14th country to legalise gay marriage

FRANCE became the 14th country to legalise gay marriage over the weekend, with President Francois Hollande signing a bill to recognise same-sex marriage.

BBC reported on Sunday that France's Constitutional Council rejected a challenge by the opposition to the bill on Friday last week.

The rejection cleared the way for President Hollande to sign the bill, with the first gay marriage in France potentially happening as early as July.
