BONVILLE bantam breeder John Arnett has been showing his birds off to visitors from the Philippines this week.

The veteran chook man was 'discovered' by a visiting fowl fancier from the Philippines who read about the birds in a Coffs Coast Advocate story he read online and arranged to meet John and see his birds.

Mr Arnett said the travelling fowl fancier was originally from Casino but had since settled in the Philippines.

John Arnett, a well-respected breeder and judge who specialises in leghorn bantams, will travel to the Sydney Royal Easter Show on April 9 to judge the Leghorn classes in the Royal's poultry section.

Mr Arnett will travel to Lismore on April 4 to judge at a young birds show and after the Sydney Royal ends, he will be off to Bega to judge in May.

He said yesterday Coffs Harbour was unlikely to feature a poultry section in the 2009 Show on May 15-17, with no concessions from the Show Society to allow breeders to park at the pavilion to collect their birds.
