Former treasurer to talk and sign books in Hervey Bay

FORMER treasurer Wayne Swan MP will be in Hervey Bay on December 6 to talk about recent political history and his new book The Good Fight.

The Good Fight details the story of how Australia avoided recession from the MP's point of view.

Councillor George Seymour said it was a great opportunity to hear an inside account of the Rudd and Gillard Governments from the man who was named by Euromoney as the Finance Minister of the Year in 2011.

"The libraries are cultural hubs - places where people can come to explore their interests and broaden their horizons," he said.

"We are continually putting on new and different events.

"We are absolutely thrilled to have the former treasurer coming to the library to talk about his new book."

Mayor Gerard O'Connell will host the event as a question and answer session with Mr Swan on
Saturday, December 6, from 2pm at the Hervey Bay Library.

The event is free but bookings are essential and can be made by phoning the library on 4197 4220.

Mary Ryan's Hervey Bay will have copies of the new book for sale, which Mr Swan will be available to sign.
