Former Hawk Mitch Hallahan admits GC Suns had work to do

FORMER Hawthorn player Mitch Hallahan has admitted he was surprised at the lack of professionalism when he arrived at the Gold Coast Suns for the start of pre-season training.

The midfielder (pictured) said the 'party culture' tag the Suns had been labelled with in the wake of explosive drug-use allegations by former player Karmichael Hunt was an exaggeration.

But he did say the situation had been a far cry from what he had been used to at Hawthorn.

"We all know Hawthorn, the way they conduct themselves off-field is second to none," Hallahan told reporters. "I wouldn't say we're a long way off, but when I did arrive there was some preparation in terms of training that wasn't great."

The 22-year-old confirmed Suns chief executive Andrew Travis had offered all players the chance to speak with him one-on-one if they had concerns about the drug cloud hanging over the club.
